Which Western Digital Caviar Hard Drive Performs Better: Blue Or Green Or Black And Why?

By AntiVirus Posted in: Acronis Internet Security

Hi, I had bought a Gateway DX 4831 desktop computer which comes with Intel Core 13-530, 6 gig of memory and 1 tara-bytes green caviar hard drive from western digital with 32, which is my three main focus of get this desktop.
About a years and a month later from the date later, the hard drive begin to have problem. First, while I was doing my design works, the blue-screen pop-up with an error message stating that there is a conflict with some of my hardware or conflict with a virus infection. Now, I know a thing or two about computer and I know there is no virus on my 1 tara-bytes hard drive because I use Norton Internet Security 2009 60 days trails at the time because it come pre-loaded with my computer and it detect no virus with full system scan.
So I let the machine rebooted and every loaded fine. One day, when one of design programs “Adobe Illustrator CS5” won’t let me created a new document, I decide to a system recovery. First, I notice that recovery time is longer than usual so I decide to wait and see what happen. When I loaded the second recovery disc in, when it reach to 17, 22, 65, and sometime 66% percent, an error code 1117 – io device error pop-up and eject the second recover disc.
First I thought it might be the cable but then I replace my 320 gb blue caviar hard drive from western digital and the recovery was a success with only 4 minutes where the 1 tara-bytes green hard drive take 17.03 minutes and some longer but still fail. So I decide to get BestBuy Geek Squad a called and he asks me to bring my computer for a quick look.
First, the Geek Squad told to clone the hard drive with “Acronis True Image software” or he can do it for which will cost me $160.00 and it may take 20 or 24 hours. I just refuse to let the Geek Squad to course me $160.00 and decide to do the hard drive clone myself I did it before when the 1 tara-bytes hard drive won’t boot-up.
I know it not a virus infection because the hard drive does boot-up but it won’t let me do a complete recovery.
When I set both hard drive “320 gb blue caviar and 1 tara-bytes green caviar” but this time, the clone don’t works so I decide to replace my 1 tara-bytes by buying a new 1 tara-bytes hard drive.
Before I make the purchase, I want to know which one is better, Blue Caviar or Green Caviar or Black Caviar. If I decide to fix the problem, how can I fix it. I was thinking doing a bad sector disk check, or try to do the hard drive clone with 1 tara-bytes as the main drive. I ask one of the BestBuy Geek Squid and they said the Black is a better choice but if money is my problem, the green is better and faster than the blue caviar.
So do you think I should buy a new hard drive or try to fix the problem myself by doing a bad sector disk check on the 1 tara-bytes green caviar hard drive.

The WD Black series is the highest end for performance and longevity but not durability due to its high RPM and cache. Blue is middle of the road. Green is the slowest but most power efficient but least likely to last years because of the fluctuation of rpm. Remember the higher RPM and more cache the faster it will be but without the RPM more cache is useless.
