Which is the better free firewall?
Don’t say Comodo please. I know it’s probably the best but I’ve used it and it has too much interruptions and warnings that I don’t know what to do with!

I’d give ZA a slight edge:
ZA does have this benefit over all others: “ZoneAlarm (and optionally the Tiny Personal Firewall) goes the extra mile of generating a “Cryptographic Signature” for every permitted program. This signature is then regenerated and compared before any program of that name is again allowed access. This completely prevents this simple form of trusted program impersonation, but NO OTHER FIREWALLS OFFER THIS CAPABILITY.” GRC/ https://www.grc.com/lt/howtouse.htm
One drawback (at least on XP), a recent modification from ZA disables the firewall for “Guest” accounts: which may pose a problem if that user needs Net access.
Probably not much in it. I think you’ll find ZA is a (basic) two-way firewall so, if you get malware on your PC it *should* stop your personal info leaking out. The Windows firewall (in Vista and Windows 7) is theoretcically two-way but outbound protection is turned off by default and a pain to turn on. Apart from that, the Windows firewall is easier to use as it requires very little user intervention.
Zonealarm is better,Windows firewall provide basic protection but you should tell which os are you using.
I prefer Windows, I find Zone alarm too intrusive.
