@Colin Garrard: You’re a top contributor to software and security and you recommend AVG?
Maybe I should get Yahoo to confiscate your…ranking.
Anyway, there’s no such thing as the *best* anti-virus software. I mean, there are great ones out there, sure. But all anti-viruses have their own minor security flaws, either by letting some viruses slip through or having false-positives at files that are legitimately safe.
My suggestion would be to have a total internet security solution. They usually cost money, though.
There are some good free internet security solutions that offer quite a lot of features, such as Avira AntiVir Free or Avast! Free. Out of those two, I prefer the latter since it provides a lot of useful security functions that you’d be finding in other software for a fee. Avast! also works really well with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (MBAM), so I suggest getting those two free pieces of software. You’d have quite a good protection set up for yourself.
Just please, don’t use AVG.
PLEASE don’t.
I’m not saying this because I have a thing against AVG. It’s just that I have had so many terrible experiences with AVG’s faulty security measures that I’m happy I gave it the boot.

McAfee, Norton, Avast, Kaspersky and AVG etc is the best anti virus software that will remove any virus. Maximum time I use McAfee. So you can also use it.
I would say Comodo Antivirus is best because this Antivirus identifies and eliminates viruses, worms, spyware, adware, Trojan Horses, rootkits and all other malware. No exceptions.
No such thing. The best AV of 2011 is Kaspersky, as awarded by AV Comparatives, an independent antivirus comparative site:http://www.av-comparatives.org/images/st…
I used Eset and liked it, now I have A V G Internet Security, it will run rings around all else.
I’ve been useing McAFEE since day-1
That’s over 10-years..
McAFEE has never failed.
For me it is ESET NOD32 and I would also suggest Kaspersky.
Use two anti-virus programs on your computer.
