I disagree with a couple of things I’ve read – one is a matter of opinion, and the other is a solid fact.
In terms of paid antivirus *or* full security suites, Kaspersky and ESET are at the top of just about any list you will find, with user preference being the deciding factor.
However, for free antivirus (I use and recommend Avast), AVG doesn’t deserve to be even in the top three.
Avast and Avira both have rootkit detection, which is glaringly missing from the free version of AVG… and that is a *major* deficiency.
