Should You Have Both Antivirus & Antispyware Software On Your Computer And Why?

What is the difference between the two? Is spyware and malware the same thing?

Malware is a broad general term that includes all the various classes of *malicious* software.
… The list includes, spyware, worms, trojan horses, viruses, rootkits, etc.
Spyware specifically is malware that is installed without the user’s knowledge, with the intent of getting personal information.
I personally don’t have a dedicated antispyware program because as the above answerer said, I also use Avast Free Antivirus, and it has a pretty decent antimalware component along with its antivirus abilities.

And I also scan regularly with the free versions of both Superantispyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

    Edited for spelling.
    DAMN Linux for no spell-check!

Viruses spyware and malware are all different, search the words on a search engine. As the poster above said, you should have specific defense software for the different infections as they all work differently and catch different things.
I have avast (real time protection), malwarebytes (real time), super anti spyware, windows defender, and comodo firewall, all are free.

While I don’t know to much about this topic I do know that there is a difference between viruses and spyware.
On my computer I have “Avast Antivirus”, and I will occasionally scan using “malware bytes”.
I don’t expect this to help too much but I thought I’d throw in my 2 cents.
