OK i have a netbook hp mini 110 and my processor is 1.66 intel atom and my RAM is 2gb so i need a “light” and effective antivirus my options are 1-microsoft security essentials 2-panda cloud 3-avesta 4-ESET nod 32
and my other question is it necessary to download a firewall program (my only option is comodo of course) but will it slow down my mini?
and another question is do i really need an anti male-ware after all that???
THANK YOU FOR ANSWERING i appreciate it!

You should ALWAYS have a firewall as well as anti-virus. (Unless of course you have a very good hardware firewall, but we won’t get into that)
Pair security essentials with comodo and you should be fine.

Avira is your best choice, lightest before ESET, best detection rate, fast scanning
The others in order:
Avast – Heavier, decent scanning, good detection
ESET – Very light, very good detection, fast scanning
Panda – Very good detection, light, slow scanning
Microsoft security essentials – slow scanning, very light, decent detection
Also another stand-alone program (so one time scanning, instead of complete real time scan) is Malware bytes Anti-Malware, that program is still at the top, will detect anything else your anti-virus fails to detect, and it won’t be detected by viruses, so it won’t be shutdown and disabled
EDIT: You don’t always need a firewall, with a bit of common sense Windows Firewall actually does just fine. As long as you got a good anti-virus and a bit of common sense (as in don’t click and sign up for stupid stuff) and delete cookies etc, your protected…
Firewalls and anti-viruses can’t protect you against stupid mistakes, such as entering your card details into a random site, and not deleting your cookies.
Its up to you AND your anti-virus to keep you protected.
A firewall is important, antivirus is not. Viruses are easy to avoid and you only get one if you make a mistake. Whereas you can get hacked at any time and it’s not something that relies upon you making a mistake.
Windows Firewall is sufficient. Better yet if you have a router, just use that (if you’re not using wifi, disable the wifi but use the router anyway just as a firewall) and disable Windows Firewall.
You should be able to run any of those AVs with no problem, here’s the minimum system requirements for NOD32 http://www.eset.eu/support/system-requir…
You need a firewall but the default Windows f/w is OK(-ish) and easier to use than Comodo.
Any mainstream AV will protect you against (nearly) all malware, not just viruses, so a separate anti-malware program isn’t essential. But a lot depends on your surfing habits.
