Shall I Give Up My Norton For Zone Alarm?

By AntiVirus Posted in: Acronis Internet Security

i currently have norton internet security 2009 with norton system works 2009 and ghost 12.
i was thinking of giving this up for Zone Alarm internet security, Zone Alarm forcefield and the new Acronis home 2009.
even though the new norton supposed to be lighter than previous versions, i have noticed it still takes a while for my pc to boot up and a while longer for norton to appear in my tray and then i can use my pc as waiting a while.
i did do a trial on the zone alarm stuff and did notice my pc was faster and better but i am concerned about protection.
i keep hearing norton 2009 stuff is supposed to be the top best security and i am concerned i am giving up the best for the second best of zone alarm or am i giving up the second best for the better?
what do you think i should do?

IMO, no you shouldn’t. While NIS is a memory hog and slows your computer down, it offer much better protection than ZoneAlarm’s Internet Security. Between the two, Norton have much better anti-virus protection and their FW is as good as ZA’s. Zonealarm’s bread & butter is their firewall protection, but their spyware & anti-virus (licenced from computer associates last time I checked) isn’t that great.
Why not consider Kaspersky Internet Security? It still uses a lot of memory, but it does not make an impact like Norton. Install a trial & see’s how it works:

Put simply, Norton is dreadful – over complicated, poor at detection & removal, causes far more problems than it solves. I’ve never seen the point of zone alarm either, I find that AVG Free is one of the best programs regardless of cost (or lack of it)

If you’ve already invested in “the best”, and you’re worried about settling for “second best” then keep what you have and stop worrying.
Frankly, I’ve used ZA free, Avira Anti-virus free, Spybot free, and Ad-Aware Se free for years and have had no problems. Whatever you feel comfortable with, but don’t agitate over best or second-best. If you never get a virus, then you’re fine.

no avg reason norton and zonealarm slow your pc down as they continously stream pop ups and its very annoying even when you turn them off
avg is excellent down load this free.avg.com
ive used it for a number of years without probs
