In Need Of A Good Antivirus Program?

By AntiVirus Posted in: antivirus

The antivirus program that I had expired a few months ago, and I didn’t install another (I’m an idiot). Now I have a virus on my laptop and I need to know a good program to download that will scan and remove any viruses on my computer. I’m not good with computers/antivirus programs AT ALL so I have no clue what to download.
More details: The laptop is a Dell Inspiron. I am on a standard account right now because my Administrator account will not let me do ANYTHING at all. When I click on something, it opens, then closes 2 seconds later. Then a ton of virus notifications pop up. I can’t download anything on that account since it won’t even let me on the internet. That’s how bad the virus is. Can I download an antivirus program on my standard account and remove the viruses on my administrator account AND the standard account? Do I HAVE to be on the administrator account in order to do that? And if so, how do I remove the viruses since i can’t do anything on that account? (I’m sorry if this confused you, but like I said earlier, I am not good with anything computer related at all, haha).

The first thing you will want to do, is run rkill, rkill is a small executable, no need to install, READ THE DESCRIPTION. Delete after clean.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download…
After rkill has successfully run, install, and run a full scan with MBAM, it’s free:http://www.techspot.com/downloads/4716-m…
I use the free version of Avast, it is the only 3 star rated AV that has a free version, see this unbiased, independent comparative:http://www.av-comparatives.org/images/st…
You can get Avast free here:http://www.avast.com/en-us/index

I use Norton Internet Anti-Virus software
It’s my second year having it, and I’m planning to buy it again next year.
    Also u can try:
    -McAfee
    -Windows Live OneCare
    -Kaspersky
Try comparing those and see which is best for yourself!

you need to be administrator to cleanse your entire pc of the virus but the 2 best out their right now are norton and kaspersky

All you need to know is how to follow directions. If you can do that, You can clean your computer. The best way I have seen so far is with a bootable CD. But for now we will keep it simple. You don’t need to be administrator to clean your machine.
Start here. Download rkill and run it. Do not restart your machine after you run it, http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download… Keep trying till one of them downloads. They have been renamed for a reason. After it runs it will open another small window. In that window their will be a file path. It will start like this c:/ When you see that file path click start in the box type exactly that file path. Hit enter on your key board. Your computer will show you that file. When you find it, Delete it. You have cleaned your computer.
If you do not get a file path or you get way to many to follow, DO NOT RESTART YOUR MACHINE! Download malware bytes from here, file hippo http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwar…
Update it if needed and do a scan. Let it find everything. Delete what it finds.
If you just have to have a free antivirus Avast is the lesser of the evils. Download it. Update it and run it
