I am a 20 year old sophomore and I’m a female. I’ve been wondering a lot about college. I’m unsure of what I should go for since I’m not really sure. I don’t want to be in front of computers all of the time and I don’t want to major in social sciences since it doesn’t really get you anywhere and I’m not into math and science or medicine. I don’t really want to go to graduate school. I am scared of what to do because the costs of school keep rising and if I was to pick a major like psychology or art and stick with it, it won’t help me much in the employment field. I was thinking of taking up a trade at my CC since it’s skills learned then and there and I can get started right then. I like to work with my hands and I don’t like being cooped up in my house all of the time. I guess you can say i grew up somewhat like a tomboy. What would be some good trades I can get into as a female and what are possible 4-year degrees I can still think about? thanks.

If you’re not interested in science, math, any liberal arts, being in an office setting, or any professional degree of any kind, you should definitely contact your local community college or check out their website.
Plumbing, electrical, and mechanical fields are “hands-on” things that both women and men can do.
And, honestly, if you’re interested in a trade degree, save your money and don’t bother with a 4-year.
you should look at your local CCs website. because there’s plenty of trades i would want to do but i can’t afford to relocate so i have to pick one that my college offers, not necessarily my “Dream” career. research careers on http://www.bls.gov or other career sites. i’ve been doing major research for the past few years and i still don’t know what i want to do either. so hang in there and try to decide.
Here’s a chart of majors by salary and employment prospects. Good luck finding something.http://graphicsweb.wsj.com/documents/NIL…
Finish a 2 yr program. Things like skilled trades (plumbing, etc.) are the best way to go (I know someone already mentioned that, but it’s worth repeating).
Ask someone that cares…
