I Am Shopping For New Antivirus/antispyware For My Internet Explorer 8, Windows Xp System.?

My computer crashed when I installed Zone Alarm and I am currently running Kaspersky antivirus. I’m looking for something reliable but not overwhelming and need anti-spyware.

AVG Free is a fairly small program, and I have had minimal problems with software conflicts. It is the only virus scanner I ever used that doesn’t make my system behave worse than when it’s infected.
Also, there is a firefox add-on called “NoScript” that lets you choose what executes in your browser. There’s another called “Flashblock” that blocks Flash execution until approved. Since I started approving scripts manually, I have had 0 viruses, 0 spyware, and my computer has been running a lot more smoothly. I no longer have to use a virus scanner that constantly scans my computer; I just run it once every couple weeks and enjoy a speedy, virus-free computer. Yay!

If you’re looking for a free AntiVirus, Panda Cloud is pretty good and it doesn’t advertise. If you want to purchase one, try checking out av-comparisons.org. They are a non-profit organization that tests the different AV programs against one another in real-world situations. The information can be a bit technical, but they give good reviews. I personally use GData. I also use Panda. AVG free Didn’t cut it for me. Avira and Avast annoyed me with all the advertising.
As for antispyware, the only free one I know of that does active scanning (meaning you don’t have to open it up and run it each time) is Spyware Guard.

Commodo Internet Security Suite (free) http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/free-… includes an antivirus AND a firewall (so you won’t need Zone Alarm). It also has this other cool feature: whenever you download stuff, or when your browser does something that could be potentially malicious, it asks whether you want to run it in a “sandbox.” A sandbox is like a portion of memory that is secured from everything else. When the sandbox is closed, everything that happened in the sandbox is undone. So if your browser does something, and you don’t know whether you ought to allow it to continue, you can just run it in the sandbox to see what happens.
Instead of having an anti-spyware, I instead just never install spyware. How do I accomplish this? I install the McAfee Site Advisor toolbar http://www.siteadvisor.com/ The toolbar resides in my browser, and if I go to a site that has spyware available for download, it pops up a red balloon. It pops up a yellow balloon if the site will spam me if I put in my e-mail address. It also puts red, yellow, and green icons next to all of my Yahoo and Google search results.
Now, without lecturing you about the benefits of Mac’s & Linux’s security against viruses and spyware, the ultimate security for Windows is Deep Freeze http://www.faronics.com/en/default.aspx This $45 product will make your whole computer a sandbox. Unless you use your Deep Freeze password to temporarily stop Deep Freeze, then no matter what you do, when you restart your computer, it will be reverted to exactly the way it was the last time you restarted. Be careful to save your work to an external drive that Deep Freeze is not configure to protect, or your documents will be gone whenever you restart.

I recently had a problem for which I could not find an answer..I had an E-mail correspondence with them, and was directed in “easy to understand” steps how to find it and correct it. The answered quickly, and really led me through things I did not even know existed…and we solved the problem. Vere impressed with them. You can look it over by simply entering “Regtool.com” and reading about all they offer. ( the scan is not invasive like Norton and Mc) if you are working on something you can click it on or off on desktop. Check it out.. think you will like it.

Your antivirus program is very good, Kaspersky is one of the best antiviruses available.
For an antispyware, visit http://bit.ly/remove-malware and download one or both of the two antispyware programs (Malwarebytes and Superantispyware)

I use the one provided by the phone company where I get my DSL. Before that I founf PCcillin by Trend Micro to be superior to McAfee and Norton, really superior. Kaspersy? I don’t have experience but I doubt it would beat Trend Micro.

I have spyware doctor, for year and a half, downloaded from http://www.2-spyware.com. I think its the best because it found and removed security tool for me.
