After having probs with webroot uninstalling I managed thru ’system restore’ only thing is now it won’t recognize microsoft security essentials I had (and still have according to prog list) It is not showing in tray and it says I need to download Microsoft security client files. Catch 22. THEN it recognizes the M S E on pc and informs me I already have one version installed! Can’t uninstall to re-install because…………yep, it says files are missing and I need to download…………….. etc,
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Is this on Windows 7?
If the program has been uninstalled and doesnt appear in programs and features you will need to remove all traces of it before reinstalling it.
Go to Program files and rename the folders for the application
Go to Program Files (x86) and do the same
Switch on show hidden files and folders from folder options in explorer
Go to Program Data and do the same
Go the C:Users%username%AppData search through here for folders for the application and rename them.
Open Regedit and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftware and look for the folder for the application and rename it.
Reboot and reinstall
I know how frustrating it is but you need to understand (sorry if that sounds patronising but I am a retired teacher) that the computer stores security and other system essentials in a locked area of the hard disc. System files cannot be uninstalled and can only be updated by Microsoft, this is often completed in the background so that you may not even be aware it is happening until the computer freezes. Then you will probably be give a message not to switch off the computer until the update is complete. I suggest that you contact iyogi to get the help of a qualified technician. It will cost you around £100 a year for keeping your computer in good running order. You will be given one-to-one help and advice. Reliable disk cleanup and security systems will be downloaded and daily activation will keep your computer files safe from hackers, worms and viruses.
