My computer is about 6 months old, so should be working fine. About a week ago it started running very slowly. I download a lots from Pirate Bay with Utorrent, and I feel that may be the cause. I have always had the free version of Avast! antivirus and have tried running virus scans on it, but my computer freezes before I am ever able to finish the scan. I want to solve this without deleting everything I’ve downloaded. There is also school work on my computer that I cannot delete. I want to know what the intelligent way to go about finding and fixing the problem is.

did you create a restore point? have you looked at what is using so much of your resources? virus scans don’t work because the virus is written after the anti virus is built.. why build a virus that a default scan can find.. is it just slow on line? look at it with a data sniffer..
I would 1st transfer files from your computer to the cloud. Use services like Dropbox or if you have Hotmail, use it’s Skydrive. 2nd, download this malicious software removal from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/det… And 3rd, if your computer is still running slow, I have no idea of what to do, go in for a service or something.
Next time, upgrade or buy a new antivrus/antispyware software.
